Personal Statement about Training Program:
Originally trained as an acupuncturist, I was always interested in the body/mind interface.
I became a Certified Focusing Professional in 2000. Since immersing myself in Gendlin's Philosophy of the Implicit, I see that Focusing is the way to recognize ourselves as part of the natural order, ending the split between science and spirituality, 'objectivity' and inner knowing, learning how to dialog between the two.
Focusing has taught me that the next right step can lie smack in the middle of what seems contradictory or impossible. I love the possibilities it brings.
I also love the way that Focusing can enhance a theoretical framework, like Nonviolent Communication, by paying close attention to each person, allowing the work to become more relevant to his or her implicit intricacy, and thus more effective.
