What am I going to do in my own environment?

As a person

Gathering more experience, gaining deeper knowledge on focusing, attaining a focusing attitude every minute of my day.

As a family person

To use focusing in everyday problem solving in my own environment. To focus with my children/grandchildren in their play. To focus with my friend/husband.

Paying attention and (further) developing my listening attitude in dealing with others.

Telling about focusing to friends and acquaintances; reflect about it to others in my own environment.

As a worker

Using focusing with babies/children/teenagers and their parents, teachers/school-workers and therapists. To work individually or in small groups, in my work/own practice. To make videotapes. Use focusing in working with deaf children and children with unexplained physical complaints.

Making my (pedagogical) colleagues interested in focusing, showing experiences to them.

As a teacher and scholar

Being a trainer in focusing-courses.

To bring focusing in the education of university-students, in teachers education, in teaching languages.

Present case analysis in professional forums, writing papers.

Setting up workshops/courses on focusing and/or focusing-techniques.

To gather/file/translate literature/audio- /video-material/documentation and make it available to others.

To develop research on focusing.

As a member of society

Finding ways to introduce focusing in primary health care and hospitals. Finding a connection to the political discussion on health care.

What are my ideas and suggestions?

On the conference

Continue; organize more conferences every one/two/three years or summer focusing camps. Distribute a summary of this first conference.

On information

To write regularly about practice and collect writings, making a newsletter or paper 2-4 times a year with supplements developments and education. Write a book.

Spreading knowledge, making translations and making them available, gather all information in one source, create a European Focus Information Center. Maintain and expand international communication. To use the Internet, creating and expanding Children’s Corner Network.

On focusing with children

To develop new ways and methods. Building focusing in the educational process, in pregnancy courses, maternity clinics and -units. Use in treatment/prevention of burnout.

What can I contribute for international development?

In propagating focusing with children

To let focusing to grow and to inspire others. To bring practical and written material to others and write about birth-process and parenting, focusing in psychotherapy with children and about practical techniques. Making a contribution to the newsletter.

In/around my own country

Co-ordinate focusing with children in USA/Canada/Mexico/The Netherlands/Hungary/Mid-Eastern Europe/Israel.

To open a center/Children’s Focusing-group in Israel/Hungary.

In organizing the next conference

Participation in the (local) organization of the next conference every two years in Hungary/different countries encourage hosting the next conference in U.K & Ireland/Canada. For help just call.

To be a facilitator (again), to give a formal presentation, a workshop, sharing experiences with adolescents at the next conference.

To help as a translator.

Find funding and support for those who cannot pay.

Suggestions for improving a next Children’s Conference

Organize workshops for tools and special themes, learning groups for experiences.

Make clear rules at the start: learning groups are no therapy-groups, discuss (own) problems in self-reflection-groups.

Longer conference, more resting, more built-in time for focusing.

Plenums were great, very suitable for presentations not very suitable for practice.

More rotation to spread experiences.

More time for the learning groups.

More attention for advance from own experience to general topics.

More attention for the interaction between participants with different levels of experience.
