Personal Statement about Training Program: My life commitment is about helping people be more consciously aware of what they are doing and why. My first Focusing training was with Eugene Gendlin in 1983. He spent the whole morning talking about ‘going down into your body’ and ‘being friendly’ with whatever was ‘there’ (even if you hated it!) By the first break I found myself with uncontrollable tears saying to Gene, “I’m so confused. I’ve spent so many years learning how to ‘transcend’ my problems and now you want me to make 'friends' with them!!” That was the beginning of a process that altered my life and how I view and live it. Gene was right: “No matter what you do, if you know Focusing it will go better”.
My training programs are designed to help trainers, participants or therapists not only know Focusing; they are tailored in a way that help people 'live' Focusing – authentically, genuinely, congruently and lovingly.
A Sample of my Work: Clients are used to being listened to by a therapist. The next step is teaching them how to listen to each other, without clinical intervention. Bala Jaison, Ph.D.
