"I can't tell you how valuable Focusing is to the people with whom I work. Many people around the world use this simple yet powerful technique to relieve very disturbing symptoms of chronic pain, depression, anxiety, agitation and mania".
Mary Ellen Copeland, M.S.,
author of "Fibromyalgia & Chronic Myofascial Pain"
The Focusing Institute has coaches who are specially trained in the use of Focusing with people who are living with cancer or other serious illnesses. These coaches are either cancer survivors themselves or have worked with individuals with cancer and other illnesses. The Focusing steps will be taught to you with sensitivity to the particular issues involved in living with serious illness, such as medical decision making, sharing with family and friends, and relationship to the body and its symptoms. If you would like to have a session with one of these coaches, please select "Coping with Illness" from the "Session Type" drop down box on the following page. Our coaches are not providing medical or psychotherapy services and are not involved in any way in diagnosing or treating illness or advising people regarding medical treatment options, but only in the use of Focusing as a practice that can support you in coping with an illness.
