Report
What we want, is: to understand the philosophical
roots (ground) of Gendlin’s theory. May be, we have to other thinkers
and traditions of thought; for example eastern traditions.
We need to know, by teaching "focusing", the
broader context. It confirms to our attitude and ethics.
Our spontaneous ideas with this subject:
- Responding to a philosophical concept in a
philosophical way
- Connecting to Gendlin’s roots in philosophy
- A broader base to focusing
- Focusers are philosophers
- Children are philosophers
- Parallels and openings to other thinkers
- Distinctions and similarities with other systems
- Ethics
- Content versus process
- Conflicts and parts
- Spaces, image and felt sense
- To be human means what?
- Self-awareness as essential to being a person
- Describing versus creating
- "There is something which knows all about me"
(Karl Jaspers)
- Importance of theory in focusing-training for
teacher-trainers and coordinators
- For whom?
- Why and how?
- "Befindlichkeit"
- Lived body
- Lived responsibility
- Lived time
- Lived freedom
May be, we need a new name for that kind of philosophy
