The TIFI Membership Committee is pleased to offer this series of Focusing Roundtables designed especially for members of the Institute. We hope that this program and those to come will afford members a valuable opportunity to engage in casual peer-to-peer conversation with other members who share Focusing-related interests.
This Roundtable will be of particular interest to Focusers living in Australia and New Zealand who wish to explore ways to build connection and community with other Focusers from their part of the world. Australia and New Zealand are located in the global south. Our cultural roots reach back to Europe and down into the ancient lands we stand upon. Our environments express a uniqueness born of geographical isolation and the forces of colonialism and migration. We are interested in what this means for us in terms of creating cohesive and connected local community and how local community fits within the larger whole of the world wide focusing community.
We are thrilled to be joined in this conversation by Catherine Torpey, Cynthia Callsen and Mary Jennings. Together they will add their experience and expertise in creating and sustaining Focusing community in a variety of different contexts. The Roundtable will provide a nurturing, supportive space which invites participants to share their interests and feelings and get to know one another better. Some possible questions we might explore together are…
- What is the value of local Focusing community?
- How do we, both as Focusers and Focusing Professionals, find and support each other?
- How do Focusers and non-Focusers find us?
- What is the connection and interplay between the local and international community of Focusers and what is TIFI’s place in this?
We warmly welcome anyone who would like to join us. If you are an Aussie or a Kiwi, we will hold a certain number of spots especially for you until November 25 AEDT. Registering right away will help us greatly.
What to expect: Each Focusing Roundtable is designed to promote informal peer-to-peer conversation. Rather than acting as expert presenters, the Hosts will serve as conversation moderators to encourage sharing and exploration of the topics from the participants’ own perspectives. All participants’ sharings are welcome and valuable, no matter what level of experience or knowledge you have on the topic. To preserve the nature of informal conversation, the program will be offered live only and no recordings will be available. Registration is limited and on a first-come, first served basis, though for this particular Roundtable we will take registration from Aussies and Kiwis first and waitlist others adding others if there is room. Participants are encouraged to create follow up opportunities for connection among themselves after the Roundtable.
