The TIFI Membership Committee is pleased to offer this series of Focusing Roundtables designed especially for members of the Institute. This program and those to come will afford members a valuable opportunity to engage in peer-to-peer conversation with other members who share Focusing-related interests.

One of the most fundamental forms of Focusing is Focusing Partnerships. Many of us have ongoing partnerships, but may not have had a forum to reflect on our experiences or to share what we have learned from our years (sometimes decades) of experience with a Focusing partner.

This Roundtable will be an opportunity for some of us to come together, celebrate, explore, and learn from others who have had longer-term Focusing Partnerships.

Some questions we might explore together include:

  • What are some of the qualities that are so nourishing for you in Focusing Partnerships?
  • What have you found challenging in your Long-Term Focusing Partnerships?
  • How has your partnership evolved over time? What keeps it going? What erodes its quality, or even contributed to the termination of a partnership?
  • Have you experienced any breakthroughs in how you use Focusing within your Focusing partnership?
  • What has been your experience with those with other Focusing styles than your own?
  • What are the boundaries of the Focusing partnership? What can we, and what can’t we, do in the Focusing Partnership context? Are there issues that are better raised in psychotherapy versus your Focusing partnership?
  • How have you been changed by your LTFP?

If you have an interest in exploring these topics (or other aspects of LTFP), we hope you will join us for this Roundtable. Bring your own experiences, questions and thoughts!

CONNECTION>CONVERSATION>COMMUNITY

What to expect from Focusing Roundtables: Each Focusing Roundtable is designed to promote informal peer-to-peer conversation. Rather than acting as expert presenters, the Hosts will serve as conversation moderators to encourage sharing and exploration of the topics from the participants’ own perspectives. All participants’ sharings are welcome and valuable, no matter what level of experience or knowledge you have on the topic. To preserve the nature of informal conversation, the program will be offered live only and no recordings will be available. Registration is limited to 20 members on a first-come, first served basis. Participants are encouraged to create follow up opportunities for connection among themselves after the Roundtable.
