The TIFI Membership Committee is pleased to offer this series of Focusing Roundtables designed especially for members of the Institute. This program will afford members a valuable opportunity to engage in casual peer-to-peer conversation with other members who share Focusing-related interests.

As body based awareness practices, Mindfulness and Focusing can powerfully inform and support each other to bring about greater clarity, presence and compassion. Mindfulness supports the Focusing process by allowing the mind to feel more settled, spacious and grounded.  Focusing guides us in acknowledging and attending to what is arising in our present moment experience with curiosity and warmth. And Focusing offers many unique contributions to the field of mindfulness.

In this round table discussion we will explore and share our relationship to, understanding and experience of these modalities and how they inform the Focusing process altogether.

Questions we might explore together include:

  • How do these two profound modalities lend themselves to the actual process of knowing the felt sense and bodily wisdom?
  • How do they invite clarity around issues that arise in the Focusing process?
  • What is our experience of mindfulness and focusing together and as separate modalities on a personal and professional level?
  • How do they inform and enrich our work and life altogether?

Who might be particularly interested in attending this Roundtable?  Focusers who have an ongoing mindfulness practice and those who are curious to find out more about mindfulness and its creative, insightful and simple applications to the Focusing process.

What to expect from Focusing Roundtables: Each Focusing Roundtable is designed to promote informal peer-to-peer conversation. Rather than acting as expert presenters, the Hosts will serve as conversation moderators to encourage sharing and exploration of the topics from the participants’ own perspectives.  All participants’ sharings are welcome and valuable, no matter what level of experience or knowledge you have on the topic. To preserve the nature of informal conversation, the program will be offered live only and no recordings will be available. Registration is limited and on a first-come, first served basis. Participants are encouraged to create follow up opportunities for connection among themselves after the Roundtable.
